Grace and Vida Young and Their Ancestors

The Young family came from England, Germany, and possibly Wales dating back to a 10th century Welsh king. Early Puritan settlers in Southold, Long Island (like the Benedicts and Hortons of the Taft/Swail lineage), they were ministers and farmers, weavers, carpenters, shoemakers, soldiers, town officials, millwrights, school teachers, and a doctor. They lived in New York, Connecticut, Ohio and Pennsylvania until the intrepid George and Charles Young traveled west to the goldfields of California. The Close ancestors were recent immigrants from Germany, and the Rowlands and Morgans were Welsh.
