Notes - Raymond Haigler in his 1970 gen. notes says that Sebastian and his brothers John, Jacob and Benjamin fought the French and Indians along the Ohio River from Wheeling to Fort Pitt.
There are several references to a nickname of Bastian. Other sources call him Boston Haigler, but that may be a mis-spelling of Bastian. I believe it comes from the Melville "Genealogy..." that refers to purchases of land by "Bostin" Hagler. However, Eve Haigler's tombstone refers to her being the "consort of Boston Hagler."
The Melville Genealogy quotes Sebastian's 25 Dec 1801 will, on file in the court house at Moorefield, Hardy County, WV, as bequeathing his plantation of 400 acres on North Mill Creek equally to his sons, Leonard and Jacob. He also owned 25 acres in Bear Wallow in Hardy County and 40 acres in Pendleton County that he directed to be sold, with the proceeds divided equally between his six daughters.
Waddell’s Augusta County Annals p 204 refers to Bastion Hagler and William Haigler being neighbors. The “Compiler” says William was probably Benjamin’s son.
